Towards a culture of cyber safety: Fintech Security Summit 2016

Yesterday in London, Fintech week hosted the Fintech Security Summit at the Rainmaking Loft. What’s clear is that there is a greater need to educate users, employees and the public to spot attacks to create a culture of awareness and to drive policy to focus more on cyber security.

The summit brought together specialists and start ups in security, encryption and hacking to discuss the importance of data security for the Fintech industry. Guests included speakers from Cylon, Europe’s first cyber security accelerator and incubator space as well several leading start ups and cyber security advisors.

Luis Carranza, the organizer and founder of Fintech Week, highlighted the heightened risks of companies and institutions to cyber attacks and the need to take greater measures to protect themselves. Fintech companies deal in very sensitive private financial data and must take greater care to protect themselves and their customers’ data.

Other speakers examined the measures companies can take to protect themselves from the ever changing threats and also discussed the newest trends developments such as biometric authentication in mobile payments as well as AI and machine based learning.

Fintech Worldwide also run a variety of events in across various sectors of fintech including, software development, blockchain, security as well the annual Fintech Week in 16 – 22 July in London which is in it’s 3rd year.
